Pamlico’s anti-drug witch hunt
Wednesday, February 13th, 2008Public school students in Pamlico County could be subjected to random drug tests and stripped of school parking and athletic privileges if they refuse, according to a Pamlico Ink story.
The school superintendent announced plans to sporadically pull students from class and test their saliva for illegal drugs. Five of six parents who spoke at a forum on the new drug testing opposed the measure, but school officials didn’t seem to listen.
Whatever happened to reasonable suspicion? Probable cause? Must be alien concepts in this brave new world. Let’s hope Craven County doesn’t get this carried away.
